Has anyone ever been there or have heard anything about it.They had a show on last summer or the summer before called Bug Juice! It was on Disney Channel and it was so cool!I loved it and now I want to go to this camp. I am trying to convince my mom to let me go,but she said that she would miss me too much because it is in Maine. The website for them is wazi.com!I really want to go!Does anyone have any ideas to convince her to let me go?

Dear Danielle's Mom,
Danielle really wants to attend Camp Waziyatah this summer. She promises to write home and maybe even sneak in a cell phone call! She will also take pictures to share with you when she returns. Every girl needs the opportunity to attend camp and sing Kumbaya every night around a campfire. Please, Danielle's Mom!

Sincerely,
Danielle's Camp "W" Counselor

Sleepaway camp is great. I've gone since I was 10. (Although I was asking since I was 3-my parent's decided a fair age was when I could wash, brush, style my hair by myself.) *grins* The longest I was away was 8 weeks. But from the age ten on, I was always gone a month until I was 21. (I was camp counselors too).

My mom missed me a lot, so she always redecorated my room when I was gone. She also had lots of fun preparing care packages. *grins*

Dear Danielle's Mom,
Danielle would love the opportunity to attend camp waziyatah this year. I remember when I went to camp- it was the best time of my life because I made friends and enjoyed myself. I missed my parents, but I was able to write letters and send pictures home to my family whenever I wanted and my mom could write me back, too! Don't let Danielle miss out on all the fun of Summer camp.

Sincerely,
---------

Lol...I don't blame you for wanting to go to camp after seeing Bug Juice--it's what really, really made me want to become a camp counselor. I think the show might be even older than last summer--like maybe seven or eight years.

Maybe your mom would be willing to let you go to a camp that's a little closer to home. I worked at a YMCA camp in northern Connecticut called Camp Jewell and I promise it's every bit as fun as Waziyatah. Also, Camp Jewell's sessions are only two weeks long, and I *think* Wazi's are at least four weeks. Your mom would have less time to miss you if you weren't gone for so long.

Camp Jewell's just an example--I'm sure there are other camps that might be even closer to where you live, or have shorter sessions. Do a little research, and see if you and your mom can come up with a compromise. The TV show made Wazi look really cool, but I really think you'd have just as much fun at any summer camp. I know my summer at Camp Jewell was the best summer of my life. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to know any more about it.

My only DS goes to camp up in Maine for 7 weeks (!!!!!) and we miss him terribly. . .but we know he is having the time of his life! DH and I have discovered that we still make each other laugh and we have so much fun. . .it is kind of a relief not to have to worry about breakfast, lunch, dinner. . .all the laundry. . .we do miss him, but as long as I know he is happy, I can deal with it. We can talk to him whenever we want and he does write and fax us at least once a week.

I think it would be a great experience for you! Good luck!

Sandy
PS We especially love Parents' Day, we get to hang with him allllllll day from 9AM to 9PM and we enjoy the day sooooo much! He misses us as well and it feels so good to be appreciated by a teenager that is usually too cool for the room! LOL
